Biomass boilers are quite a different thing from most of the stoves we sell. The biomass boilers which we discuss here are designed to be kept in a utility room and look and function much more like a conventional boiler. As the name suggests a biomass boiler runs off biomass (wood logs, wood chips, wood pellets, etc) and produces hot water. The hot water is usually stored in a heat accumulator. These boilers are very efficient as a system of electronics snesors and fans control the combustion of the fuel, achieving over 90% efficiency ratings and low emission levels. Some have a large firebox which is manually filled and others have augers which feed fuel from a fuel hopper into the boiler as needed. They are all automated to some extent, many being programmable just like modern gas boilers. The term gasification boiler refers to the fact that the fuel is converted mostly to gases which are then combusted in the boiler.
