Stratford Ecoboiler Stoves

Here we have the range of Stratford Ecoboiler stoves which are made here in the UK.

There have been some clever improvements to the boiler design which means you will get better performance out of these boiler stoves and a faster response:

• The depth of the water jacket in these boiler stoves has been reduced which reduces the volume of water held in the boiler. This means that the water in HE boiler stoves comes up to temperature very fast with the HE 18 boiler stove reaching working temperature in around 20 minutes as opposed to the previous model which would take 50 minutes.
• The Ecoboiler HE range of boiler stoves have a series of baffles inside the boiler which ensure that the water travels a circuitous path through the boiler. This makes the heat uptake of the water from the fire much more even which means that the heat transfer rate can be faster which can also give a higher temperature rise between the flow and return than models without this baffle system.
• The Stratford Ecoboiler HE have improved thermostatic control systems which use a new thermostat probe which responds 50% faster than the old type - this means that the boiler stove reacts faster to temperature changes in the water which means better regulation of heat output; the water starts to get too hot, the stove turns itself down. The new thermostatic control system also gives a more even response with less spiking and fluctuation of output.

Ecoboiler stoves have thermostatic control of the primary air which means that when you are burning coal that the burn rate can be automatically controlled by adjusting the dial on the side of the stove. When burning wood on the Ecoboiler stoves this thermostatic air control will also have some effect, but less so, as it is mainly the secondary air which is used when burning wood.

The Stratford Ecoboiler HE stoves give about the same heat to the room as the previous Stratford boiler stove models and so when you have them burning nice and hot they do also give out heat to the room so that you can sit by the fire and actually feel some heat. Once the water is up to temperature this heat to the room drops down as the thermostatic control kicks in and slows the stove down, with the Stratford Ecoboiler 18 HE (the largest model) dropping down to around 2kW of heat to the room once the water in the system is nice and hot.
