Well the Woodfire Alto boiler stove has it all;

• The Woodfire Alto is a dedicated woodburning boiler stove able to run at over 80% efficiency.

• You can connect the Woodfire Alto stove to open vented or pressurised systems.

• The heat output to the room of 4 kW is well balanced by the output to water of 10 kW which is enough for domestic hot water and to run a 3-5 rads.

• There is thermostatic control of the air intake so when the stove starts to get really hot it turns itself down.

• The Woodfire Alto can be 100% room sealed by connecting an external air duct to the rear of the stove.

• As well as this amazing wood-like sandstone cladding another two types of stone cladding are also available.

I first saw this style of sandstone used on European stoves in 2009 and it is a pleasure to at last see it available in the UK.

This particular type of sandstone chosen for cladding the Woodfire Alto stove looks a lot like wood giving an absolutely stunning finish, with a much warmer feel than standard stone finishes. The soapstone not only looks great, it will also soak up heat from the stove giving a more graduated output to the room and remaining warm long after the Woodfire Alto stove has gone out.

The thermostatic control feature is a great plus too; when the stove starts to get hot it automatically turns itself down. The difference here is that the thermostatic control acts on the primary and secondary air. Most stoves in the UK with thermostatic air control act on the primary air only which is great for coal burning but not that great for wood because wood needs a supply of air from above - the secondary air - so thermostatic control which adjusts only the primary air will not have a great effect on a woodburner.
