I am so impressed with your company - you so rarely get service and response times like this and it is just so incredibly refreshing when it happens!
On the basis of the advice of your chimney expert I think the first thing to try will be to take the chimney pot off, and then either to build up the floor of the fireplace or alternatively install a sheet of glass or a copper cowl at the top to reduce the size of the opening. But if I do end up having to buy a stove you can be absolutely certain that I will be straight back to you!

I cannot recommend Stovesonline highly enough. They were the perfect internet company. I took ages deciding which stove to go for and Susi was eternally patient. She gave me the info and never tried to steer me towards the more expensive stoves or towards any particular brand. Ben was exceptionally helpful in advising me on the installation of the flue. When I finally made the purchase the stove and flue prices were very competitive. Their AFTER sales service was just as good (how rare is that!!) and with Ben's help I was able to save £650 on the installation. Finally the few bits of flue that I did not need were accepted back without quibble many weeks after delivery. This is genuinely a very good company to deal with.

Having received quotes from local companies, I decided to purchase my stove from Stovesonline. Their competitive prices outweighed the need for me to make one or two phone calls to arrange a separate fitter. The communication and information from Stovesonline was excellent throughout. Just a quick line to say thank you for sorting out the delivery etc of my Morso log burner.
The guy who bought it was a real credit to the firm you use for delivery.
It is now installed and really looks the business.
Once the surround etc are completed I will send you a photo. My house is a typical late 1950's semi in a smokeless zone. It will show you don't need a 200 year old cottage/ or ultra modern new build for these fires to look good.
The cats and dogs are already fighting as to who is getting the best spots!!! The old lady across the road has already offered to dog-sit during the day in the winter so she can sit by it.

SOMEONE FROM STOVESONLINE PHONED ME LAST WEEK IN RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION ABOUT A GAS-TIGHT SOOT CAP FOR A 90 DEGREE TEE. I CAN CONFIRM THAT THE ADVISE HE GAVE ME HAS WORKED. BY BURNING THE STOVE MUCH HOTTER I NO LONGER GET THE SMELL FROM THE DUST CAP AND THE STOVE GLASS NO LONGER SOOTS UP. IVE PROBABLY BEEN TOO TIMID WHEN FIRING UP. NOW ALL IS FINE BUT I GET UP FROM THE SOFA MORE OFTEN!

Got the install done yesterday. The guy who did it was brilliant - nothing caused him a problem and he had the lintels out, stove fitted, sealed, insulated, lintels back in and rebuilt, everything faced off and the fireplace redone in about 3 hours!
We used both of the angled bits as there was more than one tricky angle to get around in the end so I'm glad that Philip sent both.
I'll light it up later tonight so if you hear a loud bang from the North you'll know something went horribly wrong :-)

We have spent the morning showing a couple of self builders we were introduced to by another supplier around our project. We were telling them of the suppliers from which we have had great service, and told them about Stovesonline. They were aware of you and are looking for a wood burning stove.
Maybe our words saying how pleased we were with the speed and helpfulness of your service will come to mind when they set about selecting a suppliers for their stove. That won't be for some time, though, as they have yet to start their building.

My experience of Stovesonline has been very impressive on a number of fronts, the website is very informative, well designed, easy to navigate and contains all the necessary information. I mainly dealt with Shirley who was excellent, knowledgeable, very efficient, fast working and we were able to conduct business by e-mail which added that bit of speed but also some control and immediacy.
This is a first for ordering such complex parts over the internet and I was little nervous about doing it but would have no problems recommending this to others after such a good experience. I have used the Internet to order quite a few commodities, not really had a bad experience but this stands out as one of the best because you can still get hold of a real person to transact with and they really know their stuff.
My proximity to Portbury also helped as I collected the components from the distributor.

Hi Philip / Susi,
We have now used our new stove a few times and it's excellent. Apart
from being warm it adds real character to our house and is carbon
neutral, as we coppice. We are finding it interesting learning about
different woods and how to control the fire. Best so far is, we light it
with ash, then small thickness cherry and onto bigger cherry. But then
we only have Ash and Cherry!! We may have a supply of sycamore for next
year.

I found the site very informative and answered a lot of questions at the early stage and to order the kit one day, and have it arrive the next is a refreshing change and to contain everything that was ordered outstanding!!!!!! I'd seen your floor plates - but they look better with the more modern stove designs (as you indicate). so I think I'll be touring renovated / recond. wood places.
NB. We thickness of the Hearth/Plate, etc....surely not 250mm? I was advised 50mm (almost 2 inches)....
