Straight beaded chimney pot

The straight beaded chimney pot is the pot which we normally use on top of a pumice chimney system if we are not using a DFE pot. The straight beaded chimney pot has a good cross sectional area and because it does not taper it does not restrict the flow of flue gases from the chimney.

Perhaps the two most important factors affecting how much heat you get out of your stove, and how well and efficiently it runs are wood moisture content, and having a good, insulated chimney. Check out our flue design service and the Stovesonline moisture meter

DFE chimney pot

DFE chimney pot - chimney pots and inserts UK A DFE pot is great because it reduces rain entry to your chimney. A DFE pot will tend to outlast a standard pot with a metal cowl fitted and works out cheaper too. A DFE chimney pot is the ideal pot to use with an insulated liner connected to a stove if you have no downdraught problems.

Although a fireplace looks and sounds very cosy and warm it is in fact very ineffcient compared to a stove. For new build houses we would not recommend a fireplace as it will make it hard to achieve your building regs part L1A. Install a stove instead and if your heart was set on a fireplace go for something like the Dovre 2000 series
