EnergyEstate Pilot Project
this week
Industrial estates across the UK are an untapped energy opportunity, and our new pilot project project will show how that potential can be unlocked. EnergyEstate brings together businesses and community energy organisations to turn large industrial roofs into shared solar and battery installations, delivering cheaper, cleaner power, a benefit to business and the local economy and to the local community.
Firepower (the trade-only brand of our business) is leading the first EnergyEstate project. We must thank East Devon District Council for their support via funding from the Carbon Action Fund, part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. By combining business demand with community investment the model enables larger installations at lower cost, giving higher energy self-sufficiency for the host business, and a fair, long-term income stream for community energy groups.
Installation starts on the 9th Feb month, and Firepower intends this to be a replicable model rather than a one-off. The full article explains how EnergyEstates works in practice, why it matters for business, the economy, decarbonisation, and community.
