Wood Pellet Stoves
Wood pellet stoves heat with wood, with a cosy flame, in a way that uses up much less time and concentration than a woodburner - so no wonder they are increasingly popular. Wood pellets are small, of a consistent size, and similar moisture content, and this lets pellet stoves automate the whole process - they light themselves automatically, can be timed to come on, or remote controlled, and fuel is fed to the stove at the right rate to maintain the heat you set.
Although they take up less of your time to live with, pellet stoves so have moving and electronic parts, and so are a little more complex than woodburners. So it is even more important that your supplier is experienced and qualified, not only to fit and commission the stove, but to solve any eventual issues, and to provide support and annual servicing. We have now been designing, supplying and supporting wood pellet heating systems in the UK for over 20 years - so when you choose to work with us you benefit from that unrivaled experience. We will already be familiar with many issues - and in fact will tend to have designed them out, or come up with solutions and corrections for them.
Wood pellet stoves come in many shapes, sizes and types of model. There are ones that look like traditional UK woodburners, and others that look more contemporary.
Wood pellet stoves do not connect to your central heating system, they just heat the air in your house. Another option you may be interested in is a wood pellet boiler. The advantage of a boiler model is that it heats your whole house and provides hot water, it moves you onto a renewable fuel, if your house is large then the heat outputs available are high, there is a government £5k grant that may be available to you, and (unlike a heat pump) to swap over from an oil boiler usually requires only minimal changes to your existing heating and hot water system.
