The latest model from Opus, the Aria HotTop, has been designed to satisfy the many customers who ask whether, in the event of a power cut, they will be able to cook on their stove. Many modern stoves are designed to convect their heat, so the outer skin will never get more than warm, and most radiant stoves aren't specifically made to be cooked on. With the Aria HotTop, on the other hand, the hot flue gases have been designed to route directly under the black ceramic top plate, enabling you to put anything from a kettle to a stew on the top and soon have it bubbling away.
That doesn't stop it having the distinctive Opus curved glass window to give a glorious view of the flames, nor the pinpoint controllability that lets you set that fire exactly how you want it. The bottom door on the HotTop D model gives it a sleek minimalist appearance that sets the stage beautifully for when the orange flames are snaking around the firebox above.
With an impressive 85% efficiency, and a superb build quality, this is a stove that will give you the most heat from your firewood for years to come as well as being the perfect back up for both warmth and cooking in case of a power cut.
The Aria HotTop is also available as the LS model with a convenient log store below the firebox at £2,295.
