Wood burning stoves come in many shapes, sizes and types. Modern wood stoves can burn efficiently over a much wider range of heat outputs - so, unlike an old stove, you can run a modern stove more slowly and not produce a lot of smoke. They also give out far lower particulate emissions than old models - look out for EcoDesign Ready models are these tend to be the cleanest.
