Boiler Stoves
Heat your home and hot water with wood. Boiler stoves combine the warmth and ambiance of a real fire with a built-in boiler that feeds your central heating and hot water cylinder.
🔥 Expert advice & system design includedBoiler Stoves for Central Heating & Hot Water
A boiler stove has part or all of its fire chamber made from a water jacket. This was traditionally placed at the back of the stove — hence the term "back boiler" — but in modern designs the whole body of the stove often acts as the boiler, meaning more heat goes to the water and less to the room.
This is an important thing to consider: how much heat does the stove deliver to the room versus the water? You don't want to overheat the living space, but if the room output is too low, a simple solution is to add a radiator in the same room as the stove.
If you want your boiler stove to contribute to an existing system — rather than replace it entirely — you probably don't need a full heat load calculation. The heat your stove adds simply means your gas or oil boiler runs for less time. Find out how to link your boiler stove to your existing heating system.

How We Help
From Choosing a Stove to a Working System
1
Choose the Right Stove
We help you select a boiler stove with the right output split for your home — balancing room heat against water heat, and matching the stove to your heating system's needs.
2
Design Your System
For a stove intended to provide all your heating and hot water, we carry out a peak heat load calculation to make sure the system is correctly sized. We can specify everything from the stove to the thermal store, pumps and controls.

Link to an Existing System
Sometimes linking a boiler stove is as easy as plumbing it in like a radiator. We'll help you work out the simplest and safest way to connect it to your existing gas or oil system.
4
Complex & Hybrid Systems
Systems combining a boiler stove with solar thermal, heat pump, solar PV or MVHR are well within our experience. We help design and supply the whole wood heating side, and liaise with other specialists to make sure it all works together.
Types of Boiler Stove
Which Type is Right for You?
🪵
Wood & Multifuel Boiler Stoves
The classic choice — a freestanding stove with a built-in boiler that sits in your fireplace or on a hearth. Available in a wide range of outputs from small top-up boilers to high-output systems that can heat a whole house.
Brands include Opus, Parkray, Arada, Hunter, Bronpi, Dik Geurts, Hoxter and Woodfire.

Wood Pellet Boiler Stoves
Pellet stoves automatically feed fuel from a hopper, switching on and off as needed — so you get the convenience of a gas boiler with the low carbon credentials of wood. MCS-accredited models are available.
We supply Klover pellet boiler stoves across the UK and Ireland through our Firepower network of engineers.
🍳
Cooker & Range Boiler Stoves
Range-style stoves with a hotplate and boiler built in — the heart of a kitchen that also heats the house and provides hot water. Available in wood, multifuel and pellet-fired versions.
Brands include Klover, Wamsler and De Manincor. A great alternative to a traditional oil-fired range.

Key Things to Consider
Boiler stoves are powerful and versatile, but getting the specification right is important. Here are the main things to think about before you choose.
💧
Room Heat vs Water Heat
Check the split between heat to the room and heat to the water. A stove with a very high water output will keep a large home warm but won't heat your living room much — you may want a radiator in the same room to compensate.
📐
Sizing the System
If the stove is your primary heat source, a peak heat load calculation is essential to make sure it's powerful enough for your house. Get in touch and we can do this for you — it's the best place to start.
🔒
Safety & Regulations
Boiler stoves connected to a sealed system must include an open safety circuit or appropriate pressure relief. We make sure every system we help design is safe and compliant with Building Regulations.
🏠
Thermal Stores
Most boiler stove systems benefit from a thermal store — a large insulated tank that absorbs heat when the stove is burning and releases it gradually. We stock thermal stores from 300 to 20,000 litres and can advise on the right size.
